Gift with Purpose | Five Edmonton Charities to Donate to this Holiday Season

Tis’ the season of giving and we want you to give something that you can feel good about this holiday season. With Christmas coming in just a few weeks it is easy to see just how lucky most of us are to have some of the most basic things like a home and food. Some people are not as fortunate, and so we’ve put together a list of charities that would love and appreciate any donation you might be willing to give them this year!

Santas Anonymous

Since 1955 when the first campaign was organized, Santas Anonymous has had a single vision in mind—to make sure that every child in Edmonton has a new toy on Christmas. The whole community and volunteers work together tirelessly to make sure that this vision is fulfilled by December 25th. To contribute to making a child’s Christmas wish come true, you can make a monetary donation online or drop off toys at 630 CHED 8:30am to 5:00pm daily, or at seasonal drop off locations.

Need a great gift for your clients? On your first corporate order, we will send a free basket, on your behalf, to a person of your choice.

Christmas Bureau of Edmonton

For over 70 years, the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton has been providing festive meals to families on Christmas. They are a location that provides a variety of different Christmas services to families in need. Donations are accepted right on the website, but you can also volunteer, fundraise, and sponsor a hamper to help out this holiday.

Adopt A Teen

This Christmas gift program provides $50 gift cards from Walmart for teens in Edmonton aged 13-17 living in Edmonton. Making a teens Christmas just a little bit brighter through this program is entirely funded and made possible by donations. Adopt A Teen would appreciate your contribution that can be made right on their website to help bring these gifts to teens in low-income families.

Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House provides comfort and a safe haven for families with ill and injured children who need treatment. It is a “home away from home” and offers a place for families to stay when they need to travel to Edmonton to get medical treatment providing kitchens, parking, and family spaces. Help Light the House this Christmas by purchasing a bulb at participating locations. Your money will go towards maintaining the home that families so desperately need at this vulnerable time. You can also volunteer and donate in other ways as well, such as spending some of your time cooking a meal for the families.

Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation

Help give the gift of health this year by making a donation to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. With more than 215,000 patients last year, the hospital is the only pediatric emergency in northern Alberta and is home to many organ transplants and complex surgeries serving more than just Alberta alone. Through your donations, they are able to continue making sure that children can live long and healthy lives.
